Short Escape Yogyakarta

It's been a long time since I wrote this blog again, because of my hectic activities on campus, then since 2020 we are struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, it's only today that I have time to write again. So, this is my first trip in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yogyakarta became my escape holiday choice because the distance between Yogyakarta-Surabaya is not too far, plus now there is a highway road connecting Surabaya-Solo making the trip shorter.

In Yogyakarta we stayed 3 days 3 nights at a guest house around Malioboro, why did I choose Malioboro? maybe because Malioboro is located in the center of Yogyakarta, makes it easy for us to find food or snacks. Our planned tourist destination is on the first day we will go to Goa Langse which is located in Gunung Kidul, the southern part of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, then on the second day we planed to visit Bukit Klangon which is located in Sleman, the northern part of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, while on the last day we plan to visit Sidoharjo Waterfall which located in Kulon Progo, the western part of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Day 1: Goa Langse

The trip to Goa Langse is taken about 1 hour from Malioboro, you need to know that the access road to Goa Langse is uphill, narrow and rocky, so to get here it is recommended to use an SUV car instead a city car. Arriving at the parking location we were charged Rp 10,000 for one person and Rp. 10.000 for Parking fee. To go to the mouth of Goa, visitors must pass a path with a maximum width of 1 meter, wooden stairs, limestone steps to the roots of many trees that stick out at the foot of the hill. Extra energy is needed to go down and up the stairs.

Actually the trip to Goa Langse is quite exciting when you enjoy. After walking about 200 meters from the vehicle parking lot through the field and teak forest, visitors will arrive at Batu Plawangan. Batu Plawangan is the name for the cliff which is directly adjacent to the southern sea. From the Batu Plawangan, visitors can enjoy the vast expanse of the blue southern sea. In the west will be exposed to the beautiful Parangtritis beach which is famous for being a tourist icon in Special Region of Yogyakarta. Under the steep cliffs, we can sees various flowers and incense. This indicates that this area is also often used for rituals.

The size of the cave itself is not too big because it is only as wide as two volleyball fields. Inside there is a spring that is usually used for washing your face or bathing before performing rituals. As already mentioned, Goa Langse is a cave that is full with magical ambience, so for visitors who don't like or are afraid of things like this, don't visit this cave.

Day 2: Bukit Klangon

On the second day we visited Bukit Klangon in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. Some people may not be too familiar with the name Bukit Klangon or Klangon Hills. People are more familiar with the name Bukit Indah Glagaharjo, because it is located in Glagaharjo Village. And also this hill is a quieter place compared to the hills in Kaliurang. Klangon Hill is the highest area inhabited by residents. Even from this hill you can clearly see Mount Merapi. And of course, the activity of Mount Merapi when it is active can be monitored.

You can finally breathe freh air there, in here visitors can also enjoy the beauty of the scenery. The expanse of plantations owned by residents with fertile plants, the trees that grow mercilessly, seem to be a natural fence in their territory. Unfortunately, sometimes the view will be blocked by fog. In fact, when the weather is sunny, visitors can enjoy the stunning panorama of the beauty of Mount Merapi.

Day 3: Air Terjun Sidoharjo

On our last day in Yogyakarta we plan to visit Sidoharjo waterfall, Sidoharjo waterfall is still rarely heard by many tourists this waterfall holds various attractions that make tourists curious. Even so, Sidoharjo Waterfall or also called Air Terjun Perawan Sidoharjo or translated Sidoharjo Virgin Waterfall. Sidoharjo waterfall is located between Menoreh hills in Kulon Progo. Kulon Progo area which is the location of the existence of this waterfall is indeed a hill with up and down roads. So this Sidoharjo waterfall is one of the waterfalls with the highest cliffs in Yogyakarta.

Upon arriving at the location, visitors are treated to views of very high cliffs. From this high cliff flows a refreshing waterfall. Underneath there is a reservoir for the flow of water which is usually used for bathing. The forest where the waterfall is located is very calming and beautiful in the morning. Around this location there are also wild flowers that adorn the beauty of the scenery. Here also roam the long-tailed monkeys who live in the forest. There are not many activities that can be done at the location other than enjoying the waterfall, taking pictures and seeing the scenery under the waterfall.

And that was a little review from me, if you had a plan for visiting these tourist spots please keep those clean. Bring your own garbage bag and if you see a thrash please pick up, also reduced the amount of trash you create and take your trash with you. Thanks for read my blog review hope you enjoy and have a nice day.
